36 inch wooden door handles

Our 36" long door handles are handmade in the USA. You can choose either a single handle or a pair of handles that are designed to install back to back on a door. Single handles are perfect for wardrobes, appliances, sliding doors, interior non-latching doors, cabinets and more. Back to back handles add a touch of luxury to an entry door, french doors, interior sliding doors, etc.

 We set aside the best of our hardwood stock for these handles and we produce them in small batches. After sculpting the wood to shape, each handle goes through an extensive hand sanding process involving four successive grits of sandpaper.  

We offer these in two finish options: 
*Unfinished (raw wood ready for your choice of finish) This is a good option if you need to stain the wood to a specific color, or if you need to apply a "marine finish" for exterior use.

*Finished (several coats of hand-applied clear polyurethane) Our finished handles go through a seven-step hand finishing process that takes 3 days to complete. We use a clear polyurethane that brings out the natural color and beauty of the wood. No stains are used. Hand sanding and buffing between coats results in a silky smooth finish that will stand up to years of daily use. If you are choosing the finished option, it may take up to 3 business days to prep your handle for shipping. 

We offer four different wood species: walnut, mahogany, cherry and white oak.
*Walnut has a mix of dark brown and light brown tones. It will display more "character" in variation of grain pattern and tones than the other 3 options.

*Mahogany has a tight grain and a dark reddish color. It is the most consistent in color and grain pattern of our 4 options, and is by far the most luxurious choice (in our opinion). We use a quartersawn mahogany which keeps the grain running in a vertical pattern. 

*Cherry has a light reddish color and a very "natural" look. It will have small bits of black wood grain here and there. Grain patterns and tone will vary. Cherry also darkens over time as it is exposed to light. 

*White Oak takes on an amber hue with finish and is the hardest of our four options. We use only quartersawn or riftsawn white oak lumber to avoid the swirly wood grain typically seen in oak. 

SINGLE HANDLE OPTION: You will receive one 36" handle with threaded inserts installed. You will also receive stainless steel installation screws in two lengths: 1.5" and 2". These lengths will work for most cabinetry doors. If a different length is required for your project, the threaded inserts will accept any 1/4-20 machine screw which is available at all hardware stores. The handle will install just like a cabinet door handle, with the screw exposed on the back side.

DOUBLE HANDLE OPTION: You will receive two 36" handles. One handle will have two threaded inserts (consider this the exterior handle).  The other handle will have two countersunk holes (consider this the interior handle). You will need to drill two 5/16" diameter holes through your door for installation. To install, insert the screws through the interior handle, through the door, and screw into the threaded inserts in the exterior handle.  We provide two 4" long screws for installation. These will work for door thicknesses between 1.25" and 1.5".   The heads of the screws will be visible on the interior handle (see pictures).  If your door requires a different length screw, you can use any 1/4-20 machine screw which is available at all hardware stores.

As wood is a natural material, the wood tone and grain pattern will vary slightly. If you are purchasing more than one, we will be careful to select handles that match as close as possible. Your handle will be packaged in a custom foam insert (also made by us) to ensure it arrives in perfect condition. Shipping is free to the USA.
